The Betrayal and Arrest of
Jesus This episode is included in all four gospels. All have Judas identifying Jesus for the crowd of supporters of the chief priest and elders, and all but John mention Judas kissing Jesus to effect this identification. Images of the event normally include the kiss (as at left) and the crowd with its clubs and swords. The narrative of this event in John's gospel is read on Good Friday (the Friday before Easter). At left, detail from the Amiens Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus. Golden Legend: Scripture: Menu |
