The Triumph of St. Thomas Aquinas

1471
Tempera on panel, 230 x 102 cm.
Musée du Louvre, Paris

In the upper register the Evangelists work beside their attributes -- the lion, eagle, youth, and ox.

The inscriptions to the left and right of Averroes are vere hic est lumen ecclesie, "truly here is the light of the Church" and hic adinvenit omnem viam discipline, "here he found the entire way of discipline."

In the bottom register is a papal council.
