Changing of dress of the Infant Jesus

The cult of dressing miraculous statues is very old. It spread mainly during the Baroque time. Also the Infant Jesus of Prague was dressed since long ago. Even Father Cyril found it dressed in a blue dress. The Infant of Prague is known to have worn many different dresses. At this time, his Garderobe counts over 70 dresses. The Infant Jesus has a silkish very brittle wax surface. In order to protect it from damage, it is installed in a silver casing reaching to the waist.

The Infant Jesus is dressed first in a simple shirt. Over it is put a rocheta.



The dress is put on from the front, over it a mantle with sleeves, so it can bless with the right hand and hold the globe in the left. Around the neck and the hands are lace frills. The head is crowned with one of the crowns.
