Images of this type render the story in Luke 2:41-52 (cached). At age 12, Jesus is brought to Jerusalem for the Passover celebration by his parents. As parents are leaving the city, they realize that Jesus is with neither of them. After a worried search, they find him in the Temple discoursing with the teachers there. He tells Mary and Joseph that he has been about his "father's business."
