Ivory Plaque with Saints

11th or 12th century
Musée National de l'Age Médiévale, Paris

The inscription on the top roundel is S[ANCTUS] LAVRENCIUS, Saint Lawrence.  He is tonsured and wears a dalmatic, with narrow sleeves and a collar, and a stole.  In his right hand is a short rod.

The middle roundel has St. Pantaleon, carrying a rod and book, in a looser garment.  A layman, he is not tonsured.

Below is S[ANCTUS] GREGORIRIUS P[A]P[A], Pope St. Gregory, tonsured and in
a chasuble with a Y-shaped orphrey.
