St. Ursula is in the
boat in the lower part of the frame, preaching to the virgins. The two
shields on the after castle of the boat are for Pope Ciriacus (the
crossed keys) and the king of Britain (the English red cross on white,
also seen on the banner flying at the prow). The bishops sail in a
discreetly separate boat with the papal banner, followed by a boat with
the crowd of people who accompanied the virgins to Cologne.
