The one-palm-out gestures follow the style of the book and differ from the child's gesture of extending both arms as if in blessing or acclamation. Otherwise the details are as in late-medieval western versions: the suggestion of the Temple in the background, the altar, the persons portrayed, the doves in a basket, Simeon's covered hands.
