of St. Clement, Rome
The Golden Legend relates that when St. Clement was sent to the penal
colony he learned that water had to be carried in from six miles
away. He led the people in prayer that a source of water should
be found within the colony. As he raised his eyes he saw a lamb
pointing to the place where he should strike with his pickaxe.
Sure enough, water flowed from that place.
