Carlo Saraceni (1580-1620)
The Death of the Virgin

ca. 1606
Oil on canvas
Chapel of the Assumption, Church of Santa Maria della Scala, Rome

Literature at the church gives the title "Dormition and Assumption of the Virgin" and attributes the painting to the mannerist architect Girolamo Rainaldi (1570-1655), but I am assuming this to be the canvas that famously replaced Caravaggio's Death of the Virgin, which had been rejected as scandalous by the Carmelite directors of the church.
