Psalm 21

VOX CHRISTI AD PATREM IN CRUCE ELEVATI

2(1)] Deus, Deus meus, respice in me. Quare me dereliquisti? Longe a salute mea 2] Drihten, Drihten min God, beseoh to me. Hwi forlete þu me swa feor minre hælo?
(2)] Verba delictorum meorum. 3] Deus meus, clamabo per diem nec exaudies, et nocte et non ad insipientiam michi. 3] Ic clypige dæges and nihtes to ðe, and andette mine scylda, and seofige min ungelimp, and þu hit ne gehyrst. Ac ne understand þu hit me to unrihtwisnesse, forðæm ic þe na ne oðwite þæt þu me ne gehyrst, ac minum agnum scyldum ic hit wite.
4(3)] Tu autem in sancto habitas, laus Israel. 5] In te speraverunt patres nostri; speraverunt et liberasti eos. 4] Ðu wunast on halgum stowum, Drihten, Israela lof. 5] To þe hopedon ure fæderas; hi hopedon to þe and þu hi alysdest.
6(4)] Ad te clamaverunt, et salvi facti sunt; in te speraverunt, et non sunt confusi. 6] Hy clypodon to ðe, and hi wurdon forði gehælde; hi hopedon, and hi þæs ne sceamode.
7(5)] Ego autem sum vermis et non homo, obprobrium hominum et abiectio plebis. 7] Ic eam wyrme gelicra ðonne men, forþam ic eom worden mannum to leahtrunge and to forsewennesse, and ic eom ut aworpen fram him of heora gesomnunga swa þes wyrm.
8(6)] Omnes qui videbant me aspernabantur me; locuti sunt labiis, et moverunt caput. 8] Ælc þæra þe me gesyhð, he me forsyhð and onscunað; he sprecað mid heora welerum and wecgað heora heafdu and cweðað:
9(7)] Speravit in Domino, eripiat eum; salvum faciat eum, quoniam vult eum. 9] He hopode to Drihtne, alyse he hine; nu he gealp þæt he hine lufode.
10(8)] Quoniam tu es qui abstraxisti me de ventre, spes mea ab uberibus matris mee. 11] In te iactatus sum ex utero; de ventre matris mee Deus meus es tu. 10] Drihten, þu eart se þe me gelæddest of minre modor innoðe. Þu wære min tohopa syþþan ic fram minre modor breoston gelæd wæs. 11] Þinre gymenne ic wæs beboden; syððan ic of hire innoðe eode, þu wære min God.
12(9)] Ne discesseris a me, quoniam tribulatio proxima est, quoniam non est qui adiuvet. 12] Ne gewit þu fram me, forþam me synt earfoðu swyðe neh, and nis nan oþer þe wylle oððe mæge me gehelpan.
13(10)] Circumdederunt me vituli multi; tauri pingues obsederunt me. 13] Me ymbhringdon swiðe mænige calfru; þæt synt lytle and niwe fynd. And þa fættan fearas me ofsæton; þæt synd strengran fynd.
14(11)] Aperuerunt in me os suum, sicut leo rapiens et rugiens. 15] Sicut aqua effusa sunt et dispersa sunt omnia ossa mea. 14] Hi todydon heora muð ongean me, swa swa leo þonne he geonað and grymetað and gefehð þæt þæt he wyle. 15] Eall min mægen is tostenced and to nauhte worden, swa swa þæt wæter þæt byð ut agoten.
(12)] Et factum est cor meum tamquam cera, liquescens in medio ventris mei. Min heorte and min mod is gemolten swa þæt weax on innan me.
16(13)] Exaruit velut testa virtus mea, et lingua mea adhesit faucibus meis, et in pulverem mortis deduxerunt me. 16] And min mægen ys forsearod swa swa læmen crocca, and min tunge ys gecleofod to minum gomum, and to deadum duste ful neah mine fynd me geworhton.
17(14)] Quoniam circumdederunt me canes multi; concilium malignantium obsedit me. 17] Forðan me ymbhringdon swiðe mænige hundas, and seo gegaderung þara awyrgedra me ofsæton.
(15)] Foderunt manus meas et pedes meos. 18] Dinumeraverunt omnia ossa mea. Hy þurhdulfon mine handa and mine fet, 18] and gerimde eall min ban, þæt ys min mægn and mine getrywan frynd, þam ic getruwode swa wel swa minum agenum limum.
(16)] Ipsi vero consideraverunt et conspexerunt me. 19] Diviserunt sibi vestimenta mea, et super vestem meam miserunt sortem. Hy min hawodon and me beheoldon, 19] and gedældan him min hrægl, and þæt tohlutan.
20(17)] Tu autem, Domine, ne longe facias auxilium tuum a me; ad defensionem meam aspice. 20] Ac la, Drihten, ne afyr þinne fultum fram me, ac loca to minre generennesse.
21(18)] Erue a framea animam meam, et de manu canis unicam meam. 21] Ahrede mine sawle æt heora sweordum, and of þæs hundes handa min lif.
22(19)] Libera me de ore leonis, et a cornibus unicornuorum humilitatem meam. 22] Gefriða me of þæs leon muðe, and of þam hornum þara anhyrna gefriða me yrming.
23(20)] Narrabo nomen tuum fratribus meis; in medio ecclesie laudabo te. 23] Ic þonne bodie þinne naman minum broðrum. On midre heora gesomnunge ic þe herie, and cweþe to him:
24(21)] Qui timetis Dominum, laudate eum; universum semen Iacob, magnificate eum. 24] Se þe Drihten ondræde, herie hine, eall Iacobes cynn.
25(22)] Timeat eum omne semen Israel, quoniam non sprevit neque despexit preces pauperum, neque avertit faciem suam a me, et dum clamarem ad eum exaudivit me. 25] Ondræde hine eall Israela cynn, forþam he na forsyhð ne ne awyrpð earmra manna gebeda, ne he his andwlitan ne awende fram me, ac þonne ic clypode to him, þonne gehyrde he me.
26(23)] Apud te laus mea; in aecclesia magna vota mea; Domino reddam coram timentibus eum. 26] Beforan þe byð min lof; on þære myclan cyrcan ic gylde min gehat Drihtne, beforan þam þe hine ondrædað.
27(24)] Edent pauperes, et saturabuntur, et laudabunt Dominum qui requirunt eum; vivet cor eorum in seculum seculi. 27] Þonne etaþ þa þearfan, and hi beoð gefyllede, and heriað þonne Drihten þa þe hine secað.
28(25)] Reminiscentur et convertentur ad Dominum universi fines terre. And heora heortan onfoð mægenes, and libbað a worlda world. 28] Þonne gemunan þæt eall eorðgemæru, and gecyrrað ealle to Drihtne.
(26)] Et adorabunt in conspectu eius omnes patrie gentium, 29] quoniam Domini est regnum, et ipse dominabitur gentium. And gebiddað hy to him ealle þeoda and ælc cynn, 29] forþam ðe Drihtnes synd þa ricu, and he wylt ealra þeoda.
30(27)] Manducaverunt et adoraverunt omnes divites terre. In conspectu eius procedunt universi qui descendunt in terram. 30] Hy etað and hy gebiddað ealle þa welegan geond þas eorþan. Beforan his ansyne cumað ealle þa ðe on eorðan astigað.
31(28)] Et anima mea ipsi vivet, et semen meum serviet illi. 31] And min sawl him leofað, and min sæd him þeowað.
32(29)] Adnuntiabitur Domino generatio ventura, et adnuntiabunt celi iustitiam eius populo qui nascetur, quem fecit Dominus. 32] And hy bodiað Drihten ure cyn þæt æfter us cymð, and heofonas bodiað his rihtwisnesse þam folcum þe þonne beoð acende, þa worhte Drihten.
