direct deposit

Questions You May Have About Direct Deposit:

How do I apply for direct deposit?

To apply for direct deposit, simply complete the attached Direct Deposit Authorization Form and return it to the Payroll Office, along with a void check for the account to which your paycheck should be deposited.  On the following pay period, a pre-note will be initiated.

What is a pre-note?

A pre-note is a wire transaction in which your name, social security number, checking/savings account
number and bank routing number are verified with your banking institution.  A pre-note is required on all new direct deposit requests in order to authorize the posting of direct deposits to your account.

After I sign up, when does direct deposit start?

Once the pre-note is verified (usually the first pay period following application), direct deposit will begin with the next scheduled pay period.

What if I think my net pay is incorrect?

If you have any questions concerning your pay, please contact the Payroll Department as soon as possible.

What happens when payday falls on a holiday?

If a payday falls on either a banking holiday or Augusta State University scheduled holiday all direct deposits will be effective the day before.  The effective date of your direct deposit is always the same date that is printed on the pay advice.

How do I change financial institutions or account after I am on direct deposit?

If you open a new account, simply fill out a new Direct Deposit Authorization Form and provide a void check from your new bank account and return it to the Payroll Office.  A new pre-note will be initiated for the following pay period.  Once verified, direct deposit should resume on the following payday.

PLEASE NOTE:  DO NOT CLOSE YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT UNTIL YOU HAVE
NOTIFIED PAYROLL OF YOUR INTENT TO CHANGE YOUR ACCOUNT.  IF A
DEPOSIT IS MADE FOR YOU AND YOUR ACCOUNT IS CLOSED, IT COULD DELAY
YOUR RECEIVING A REPLACEMENT PAYCHECK UNTIL AUGUSTA STATE
UNIVERSITY
VERIFIES THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED THE MONEY BACK!
