Junior Physics Major Wins Award at APS Meeting - Junior physics major Simeon Hanks has won an award for outstanding research presentation at the American Physical Society (APS) March Meeting held in Baltimore, MD between March 18 - March 22, 2013. This international conference is held annually on research that focuses on the area of condensed matter physics and materials science. (Read More)

Department of Chemistry and Physics

The Department of Chemistry and Physics offers undergraduate degree programs in the area of chemistry, physics, biochemistry, and cooperative degree programs leading to teacher certification. Programs of study include preparation for chemistry and physics graduate school and preparation for continued education in engineering, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, health physics, and physician’s assistant. Courses are offered in chemistry, physics, astronomy, geology, integrated science, and pre-engineering. In addition to traditional coursework, a growing number of students also participate in chemistry or physics related research under the advisement of a faculty mentor, and many of them have gone on to present their research at regional or national meetings and to publish their results in scientific journals. We are excited about the recent growth of our department and the increased number of opportunities this affords our students. We invite you to explore our website to learn more.
