Four Music Classes for Adults (and One Class for Children)
Classes for Adults. These classes are a fun and economical
way to explore a new performance area or other musical topic. They usually
meet each Fall and Spring semester once a week in the evenings or on
Saturday. The information below refers to the classes that will
start in January, 2008. All classes meet in the Fine Arts Center
at Augusta State University. See the information and link below
in order to register for any of these courses.
- Beginning Guitar Class. Maximum of 12 students
accepted each term. Class designed for students ages 14 and older,
as long as they are very beginning guitarists. 10 classes for $124. First
class meeting is at 6:30 PM, Wednesday, January 9, 2008.
- Music Fundamentals. Maximum of 15 students for each class. This
course is designed to foster an understanding of music notation in order
to improve music reading skills. 10 classes for $124. First
class meeting is at 6:30 PM, Thursday, January 10, 2008.
- Piano Class for Beginners. Maximum of 12 students
accepted each term; ages 14 and older. The Piano Class teaches beginning
piano skills along with music reading skills. 8 classes for $99. First
class meeting is at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 26, 2008.
- Voice Class. Maximum of 15 students accepted to each class. Anyone
14and older who likes to sing and would like to sing better is eligible. The
class reviews and reinforces elements of healthy singing: vocal production,
breath control, stage presence, etc. 10 classes for $124. First
class meeting is at 6:30 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2008.
Class for Children. This new class has been developed by Tara
Scheyer.
- Silly Monkey Music (for Little Mozarts). Designed to enhance
the musical awareness of 4- and 5-year-olds (and 3- and 6-year-olds
with appropriate maturity), this class is a lot of fun for kids. It
is a comprehensive approach to musical learning that develops
singing, movement, and listening skills in the child while also introducing
musical instruments, styles, and concepts. Six 45-minute classes for
$65 (plus a $5 materials fee payable at the first class). The
first class meeting is at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2008.
You can register for any of these music classes in three different ways:
- Call the Continuing Education Office (706 737-1636) and the staff will
assist you.
- Print a Registration Form from our homepage and mail it and the tuition
(either a check or credit card information) to the Conservatory Program
