Sumer Music Camps are offered each year during the months of June and early July.  They are generally addressed to the interests and activities of middle school and high school students.  Each camp is a full-day camp starting on Monday morning and ending with a concert on Friday evening.  Certain discounts on Camp fees may apply for Early-Bird registration and for participation in All-State or All-District (All-Regional in South Carolina) Ensembles.

The dates of the 2008 Summer Music Camps are as follows:

Piano Grand Masterclass – Cancelled

With great reluctance we are forced to announce that the Piano Grand Masterclass will be on hiatus for the 2008 season.  The problems associated with unavailable facilities  due to construction are even greater this year than last year.  We feel that it will be impossible to present a camp that reflects the high quality of the faculty and the program at ASU.  In 2009 we hope to resume our schedule of multi-level piano camps.  In the meantime, practice your arpeggios,  and join us in one of the other camps.

Choral/Vocal Camp – June 9-13, 2008

For rising middle school and high school singers, this camp will concentrate on healthy singing, learning choral repertoire, training in musicianship and music fundamentals, and All-State tryout materials.

It will include such alternate activities as beginning guitar and piano, world drumming, and jazz band.

Orchestra Camp – June 23-27, 2008

This camp is for rising middle school and high school string players, with at least a full year of orchestra experience or private lessons.  It will concentrate on orchestra playing, (two age-appropriate ensembles) chamber music, and classes in music theory and history.  Alternate activities will include guitar for beginners, double bass for violinists, celtic fiddling, and recorder.
