Counseling Center

The Counseling Center provides free individual counseling services to currently enrolled ASU students and ASU employees using a brief counseling model for short term counseling. Brief counseling is often effective for common issues faced by college students and employees, and using this model allows us to serve a greater number of clients with our available resources. Most clients attend about 4 to 5 sessions.

The Center provides up to 12 individual 50 minute sessions per 12 month period for clients who will not be better served by an off-campus referral for more long-term, intensive counseling or specialized psychiatric care. Clients identified as needing a referral will be assisted with locating an appropriate off-campus mental health provider.

A current JagCard ID must be presented at appointments to verify student enrollment. Fees are required for the Alumni Career Counseling Program.

Individual Counseling

We can assist you with personal, academic and career counseling on an individual basis in a confidential manner. Services are free and available to currently enrolled students as well as staff and faculty. Come by to set up an appointment and to see our available resources.

Location

We are located in Boykin Wright Hall, 1st floor. The Counseling Center is located in Building 29 on the main campus map. Great parking is available near the front entrance.

Office Hours

Evening appointments are available on Mondays and Tuesdays until 6 PM. If you need an evening appointment, please call the office to make special arrangements.

Walk-Services

Walk-In Consultations are Tuesdays and Wednesdays 11 AM 12:30 PM (when classes are in session). Walk-in services are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis, with emergencies taking precedence. Walk-in sessions generally consist of brief, 10 or 15 minute consultations designed to assess needs and provide a referral to a counselor or to other appropriate services. Full resolution of issues may require a follow-up appointment.
