Alumni Career Counseling Program

SERVICES AGREEMENT

ELIGIBILITY

Those eligible to participate in the Career Counseling Outreach Program offered by the Augusta State University Counseling Center must be graduates of Augusta State University. Verification of graduation must be obtained by the Counseling Center before services begin. All participants must agree to all terms outlined in this document before services start.

SERVICES

For the service fee, you will receive the following:

1.  Up to 3 individual career counseling sessions with a qualified counselor. The 1st and 2nd appointments are required to complete the intake interview, testing administration and interpretation of test results. The 3rd appointment is an optional session.

2.  At the 1st appointment, following the intake interview with a counselor, you will be administered the Self-Directed Search (SDS), which assesses interests and self reported skills and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), which evaluates personal preferences related to personality type. Both tests are usually completed within about an hour after the intake interview concludes.

3.  At the 2nd appointment, you will receive your career assessment results packet (sample available in the Counseling Center) and an interpretation of the results from your counselor. An introduction of the free career services resources will be given to further your career exploration.

4.  The 3rd appointment (optional) is an opportunity to follow up after having utilized the free services resources and suggestions given by your counselor in the 2nd appointment.

5.  Free access for up to 6 months to the Counseling Center Career and Resource Library, use of DISCOVER and password permission for the Georgia Career Information System (both are computer assisted career guidance systems, specific information provided by these programs available in the Counseling Center).

Services not provided:

1.  We do not offer parts of the package separately. The first and second appointments are required to participate in the program and receive career assessment results packet.

2.  Walk-in appointments are not allowed. Use of resources in the career library may be available without an appointment but only on a first come first served basis. It is best to make a reservation to use the computer assisted career guidance programs.

3.  We do not offer personal counseling to participants of the Career Counseling Outreach Program. These types of services are limited to currently enrolled ASU students and employees of the University. However, we will be happy to provide a referral list of community mental health professionals.

4.  We do not offer individual help with resume writing, interviewing, job search or placement. These types of services are offered to alumni by the ASU Career Center for a fee.

5.  We do not have room or allow guests to accompany clients to appointments. Career and Resource Library use (including computers) is for our Career Counseling Outreach Program clients and ASU students/employees only. We do not have an appropriate place or personnel available to supervise children or teens who wish to accompany parents to appointments.

6.  The service fee is non-refundable.

COSTS

The full package, including all services described above, costs $99. We do not offer parts of the package separately. ASU Alumni Association members with current membership cards will receive a 10% off discount. All fees are non-refundable and full payment is expected upon arrival for 1st appointment. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the Augusta State University.

CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  If for any reason you must reschedule an appointment, it is your responsibility to contact the Center at 706-737-1471 at least 24 hours in advance. An after hours answering machine is available for your convenience. Clients who chronically cancel or reschedule appointments are subject to having your service rights terminated. Clients are expected to be prompt for appointments. The Center operates on an appointment basis, therefore appointment times must be maintained to respect the time of the counselor and other clients of the Center.

2.  ASU alumni status must verified before services begin.

3.  Clients are expected to participate actively in individual sessions and ask questions for clarification.

4.  It is the client’s responsibility to utilize the additional free resources (i.e. GCIS, DISCOVER, Career Library, informational interviewing, etc.) on your own time to fill in gaps in your career information gathering and knowledge of self. This is particularly critical between the 2nd and 3rd appointments .

I agree to all parts of the Services Agreement outlined above.
