Internship Opportunities 
 

The Counseling Center serves as a training site for advanced graduate students in the psychology and counselor education programs at Augusta State University.   For more information, check out the fact sheet below.

Population: ASU students and staff/faculty

Location: ASU Main Campus, Boykin Wright Hall, 1st Floor

Office Hours: Monday - Friday  8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Evening appointments are available on Mondays and Tuesdays until 6 PM. Interns will coordinate work hours with their supervisor.

Eligibility:  Graduate students must be enrolled at Augusta State University in the Counselor Education program or Psychology program.

Counseling Services: Free individual counseling for career, academic and personal issues.  The Myers Briggs Type Indicator abnd Self-Directed Search are assessments used for career testing.

Self Growth Seminars: Provided each semester, free of charge
Topics may include: Stress Management, Goal Setting, Holiday Blues, Time Management, Dating, Test Taking, Test Anxiety,
Career Decision Making, Financial Management, Parenting Skills,  Grief & Loss Recovery, Self-Esteem, Study Skills and    Assertiveness Training.                               

Class Presentations: The Counseling Center provides Myers-Briggs administration and interpretation classes to all ASUO 1000 courses, some undergraduate & graduate level psychology courses and a graduate level career counseling class each semester.

Awareness & Prevention Programming & Outreach:  The Counseling Center participates in alcohol awareness week activities, safe spring break programs, the Health Fair, SOS Day, sexual assault awareness programming and other activities on campus that vary each semester.world AIDS day activities.  Various other programs may be presented in the CSRA at local schools, churches, businesses or civic groups.

Supervision:  Graduate interns will be supervised by state licensed and nationally certified counselors.  Interns will have opportunities to perform individual counseling, conduct seminars, teach classes and other activities depending upon the intern's interests and the Center's needs during the internship semester.
