Make an Appointment
We encourage you to make an appointment for any concern you may have such as an academic, career or personal issue.
The Counseling Center provides free individual counseling services to currently enrolled ASU students and ASU employees using a brief counseling model for short term counseling. Brief counseling is often effective for common issues faced by college students and employees, and using this model allows us to serve a greater number of clients with our available resources. Most clients attend about 4 to 5 sessions.
The Center provides up to 12 individual 50 minute sessions per 12 month period for clients who will not be better served by an off-campus referral for more long-term, intensive counseling or specialized psychiatric care. Clients identified as needing a referral will be assisted with locating an appropriate off-campus mental health provider.
A current JagCard ID must be presented at appointments to verify student enrollment. Fees are required for the Alumni Career Counseling Program.
You may schedule an appointment by calling 737-1471 or coming by our office during regular business hours of Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM. Evening appointments are available on Mondays and Tuesdays until 6 PM. If you need an evening appointment, please call the office to make special arrangements.
In a small number of cases, a referral to a community resource will be required in order to provide the best possible service. The staff at the Counseling Center will be happy to help you with making this contact.
Appointment Cancellations
If you need to cancel your appointment, please give us a call as soon as possible so that we may reschedule you and utilize the time for other clients. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Clients are responsible for rescheduling missed or cancelled appointments. Clients who miss more than 3 appointments per semester may lose eligibility for services. If you are more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, the Center reserves the right to reschedule your appointment.
