FALL 2009 Seminars All seminars are free of charge and open to currently enrolled students, faculty and staff. Feel free to bring your lunch along. All programs last 1 hour unless otherwise specified. If you cannot attend a program but are interested in the topic, we will be happy to meet with you about it individually. READY–SET–GO Are you a first time college student or returning student eager to make changes to make college life easier? Learn techniques to help you set realistic goals and the necessary steps to achieve those goals. Time management and study skills tips will also be discussed to get you off to a good start with the new academic year. ANXIETY IN THE SPOTLIGHT: EXTREME MAKEOVER: RELATIONSHIP EDITION What can we do to improve our relationships? We will explore what it takes to develop a healthy relationship with our boyfriend/girlfriend, spouse, friend, roommate, family member, etc. Do not settle for status quo! TOXIC STRESS WORKSHOP Did you know stress can be toxic? Research shows a definite link between stress & a variety of health problems. Join us for this important workshop intended to help you better understand how stress levels effect your wellbeing and ways to use a positive attitude & effective coping skills to lower stress & protect your health. Have you considered changing career paths, or taking a different route with your current career? Have you been forced to change careers due to circumstances beyond your control? If any of these questions apply to you, then attend this seminar hosted by the Career Center and the Counseling Center. The following topics will be covered: things to think about when considering a career change, reasons for changing careers, effects of leaving/starting a new career, and the correct way to make that change. We hope to see you there! RELAXATION STATION DAY Come by between classes for a free chair massage (courtesy of the Augusta School of Massage) & indulge in a few minutes of relaxation during this stressful time of the semester. Lots of great stress management information, pizza & give-aways will be provided. A great way to relax before the holidays & final exams – all free and compliments of ASU’s Counseling Center & Student Activities Office!
FACULTY/STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM Lynette Walton of Consumer Credit Counseling Services of the CSRA will present a workshop on money management. Learn about budgeting, credit reports, and identity theft. With knowledge about your finances, you can develop a more effective savings plan for today’s tough economic climate.
