Addressing Standards

Interdepartmental Mail

Interdepartmental mail should be distributed using the brown intra-campus mail envelopes and using the standard campus box number system. The brown envelopes should be addressed as follows:

John Doe

Box 4

OR

Department Name

Box 4

Off Campus Domestic Mail

Return Address
Print or type your address in the upper left corner on the front of the envelope. Include your departmental mail code under the return address.

Delivery Address
Type (preferred) or print clearly the delivery address parallel to the longest side of the letter or package. Do not use commas or periods. If you are sending your package to the attention of someone, place the attention line above the address. e.g. ATTN: John Doe

City, State, and ZIP Code
Print the City, State, and Zip Code clearly. Try to use Zip+4 codes.
