Graduate Capstone Projects! Degrees Bachelor of Science in Education The Bachelor of Science in Education program in Special Education (SPED) leads to initial P-12 certification in the areas of Mild Disabilities. The program consists of coursework in the major field of study, methodology courses addressing P-12 academic instruction, and core coursework in professional education. The Master of Arts in Teaching Program is designed for students who do not currently hold teacher certifaction and for individuals who hold a non-renewable teacher certification. The M.A.T. degree leads to initial teaching certification and a master's degree for those persons who hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. There are four study concentrations based on educational background and career goals. Special Education certification (P-12) for candidates who hold a bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, child and family development, or a closely-related field. Graduates who successfully pass GACE receive T-5 certification. The Master of Education in Special Education program is for candidates who hold a Professional Level Four Certificate or equivalent in Special Education or candidates with a Professional Level Four Certification in a teaching field other than Special Education if prerequisite course work is completed.
