April 15, 2009: College Juniors or Seniors who have earned a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0 based
on a 4.0 scale (including all courses taken) and who have been accepted for enrollment into an approved
teacher education program in Georgia leading to initial certification.
HOPE Teacher Scholarship: Georgia;s HOPE Teacher Scholarship Program provided forgivable loans to
individuals seeking advanced education degrees in critical shortage fields of study. You simply repay your loan
by teaching in a Georgia public school classroom after earning your advanced degree.
"The scholarship applications are judged on academic excellence, school and community involvement,
communication skills and recommendations. Each scholarship is a one-time cash award of $1,000 payable
to the recipient's college or university."
