The Augusta State University Equestrian Team (ASUET) is an intercollegiate equestrian team that competes in Zone 5 of the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA). We compete against many larger universities such as University of Georgia, University of South Carolina, Berry College, Clemson University, and many more. The ASUET is administered under the Office of Student Activities of Augusta State University as a club sport. As such, any member of the ASU community is welcome as a member of the team. According to IHSA rules, an individual must be a full-time undergraduate student in order to compete in IHSA shows. The team was charter in the fall of 1999 and began showing in the spring of 2000. With only a few members, the team has been able to win an array of ribbons at the intercollegiate level. What is so great about our team is that no matter how small our team is, we always make a good showing. According to IHSA rules, we have a maximum number of riders that we can send to a show and a maximum number of riders that can compete in each class from each school. One benefit of joining the ASUET is that since we are so small, new members are guaranteed to show if they would like.
