EDUC 2130 Handbook

Requirements for Admission to the Teacher Education Program

1. Successfully complete a criminal background check:
In order to gain access to the field experience online placement system, all teacher candidates must complete the following documents: background check form, Tort Liability Insurance application, and Student Applied Learning Experience Agreement (MOU).

Due to the sensitive nature of working with children in a public/private school system, a background check is required for all teacher candidates who are enrolled in an education class. A background check must be done at the beginning of the semester when you take your first education class requiring a placement in the schools. To initiate the background check process, visit this website: Background Check Form

Submit form to:

2. Tort Liability
Liability insurance must be purchased prior to beginning the first education class (EDUC 2110/2120/2130 or SPED 4002). This liability insurance will be needed for the duration of your education program. Therefore, we recommend that you purchase enough years of coverage to extend until your expected graduation date. Liability insurance can be purchased from either SPAGE or SGAE (websites are listed below). Proof of liability insurance must be provided to Charlene Blankenship. For more information on the Tort Liability Insurance, contact:
