Financial Aid Priority Deadlines Established!! In an effort to serve our students expeditiously, the FAO has established priority submission deadlines for each term. The annual financial aid deadlines for each term are: Fall Semester - April 1, Spring Semester - October 1, and Summer Semester - March 1. If your financial aid file is complete by the deadline, it should be processed prior to the published tuition and fee payment due date. Your FAFSA AND all required documents (verification, C-Flag, etc.) must be received. Please be mindful that you may submit applications and support documents after the deadline. Our office processes all paperwork based on date order received. While we make our best effort to complete your file as soon as possible, you may have to incur educational expenses until your financial aid is processed.

Note: The financial aid year at Augusta State University runs from fall to summer. For example, your 2011-2012 FAFSA will cover Fall 2011, Spring 2012, and Summer 2012 semesters.

Tips for applying for aid for 2011-2012
As we gear up for the Fall Semester, here are a few tips to help your financial aid application process go smoothly:

  1. Fill out the FAFSA as soon as you file your taxes.
  2. Read your Student Aid Report after you have filed your FAFSA. It will tell you if you have been selected for verification or if there are any problems regarding your FAFSA. If you are selected for verification, there are certain documents you will need to submit to our office. Some of these include signed copies of your federal tax returns (spouse's return, if married and parents' return if a dependent student) and a verification worksheet. If your SAR tells you that you have a c-flag, you should submit documentation to our office to resolve this. If no EFC appears on your SAR, your FAFSA was not processed. Make sure all questions are answered and all required signatures are completed.
  3. HOPE Scholarships are not processed automatically. If you wish to apply for HOPE, apply online at www.gacollege411.org. Once your GSFAPPS has been completed, please submit a HOPE Scholarship Request Form to our office if you are not a graduating high school senior or current Augusta State recipient.
  4. If you answered "Student Loans" or "Both Work Study & Student Loans" for question number 31 on your FAFSA, you will automatically be awarded a Direct Loan that can be accepted via ELROY.
  5. Check the status of your account and documents on ELROY. If you have questions, follow up with our office.

HAVE YOU CHECKED ELROY?? Avoid waiting in a long line . . . check ELROY before you visit the Financial Aid Office! Not sure how?? Be sure to login using your MyASU account. Click here for our Fast Path for Financial Aid on ELROY.

Financial Aid Copy Policy:
Effective March 1, 2010, we can no longer provide copies of taxes, W-2's or any other required documents you are submitting for processing.  The documents submitted must be copies that we may keep without duplication.  This change was necessary due to state budget cuts.

ASU Financial Aid Office Confidentiality Policies: Effective immediately, two new Confidentiality Policies have been implemented for our office in order to maintain the confidentiality and privacy of our students' files. The policies are as follows:

Walk-in Customer Service Confidentiality Policy
Students who wish to know specific information (i.e., types of awards and/or dollar amounts, etc.) about their financial aid records are required to provide the Financial Aid Office Staff with their ASU JagCard. Information concerning a student's file will not be released to a parent, spouse or any other relative without the expressed or written consent of the student. You may, however, obtain specific information regarding your financial aid file by visiting ELROY. We will accept other photo identification for new students who are in the process of applying to ASU and have not received their JagCards.

Telephone Customer Service Confidentiality Policy
Only general information (i.e., forms required to complete your financial aid file, whether your file is complete or not) will be released via the telephone. Information concerning a student's file will not be released to a parent, spouse or any other relative with out the express or written consent of the student. The student; however, may obtain specific information regarding their financial file by visiting ELROY at http://myasu.aug.edu.
