Jennifer Onofrio

Ms. Onofrio is Associate Professor of Art at ASU.

Jennifer Onofrio attended the University of Wisconsin from 1984-88 where she received her BFA in painting and sculpture. From 1989-91 she attended the University of California at Davis where she received her MFA in sculpture, photography, and drawing. Her background in these disciplines affects both her work in the studio and in the classroom.

Onofrio has shown her work throughout the midwest, including the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, the ARC gallery in Chicago, and solo exhibits in Kansas City, MO, Rochester and Mankato, MN. In addition, she has completed solo exhibitions

in Augusta, GA and Aiken, SC. Onofrio taught sculpture, installation, photography, and drawing at the University of Minnesota, Morris from 1991-95, and currently teaches photography, 3-D design, and Humanities at Augusta State University. As the daughter of an actively working self-taught artist, Onofrio has been surrounded by art since an early age. Days after school were spent with her mother in the studio for a few hours of uninhibited creation. Weekends often involved exploring her native Minnesota searching for "outsider artists" with her parents, Judy and Burton. Onofrio’s memory of these experiences and her close relationship with her parents continue to play an integral role in her work. Most recently, she has been working on a series of mixed media sculptural pieces addressing issues of memory, vulnerability, and mortality.
