Art Degrees at Augusta State University
We have two degrees: the Bachelor of Art with a major in Art, and the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art. The BA is a liberal arts degree; it includes a minor in a field other than art. The BFA is a pre-professional degree that is designed for those who wish to receive an intensive education in artmaking at the undergraduate level. There is no minor for the BFA degree; in place of a minor, the student takes additional advanced art courses. The BFA is appropriate for students who may go on to graduate school in art. Within both the BA and BFA degrees, there are options for a student to choose.
For more detailed questions, you may wish to consult the ASU Art Student Handbook.
BA in Art (General)

BA in Art (Pre-Medical Illustration)
This degree prepares the student to apply to enter a graduate program in medical illustration. It was designed in consultation with the Medical Illustration faculty at the Medical College of Georgia. Although normally a BA degree includes a minor, in this case the student takes a special sequence of life science courses that are necessary for the pre-medical illustration emphasis.

the Minor in Art
The minor in Art is not a degree in itself. It goes with a major in another field as part of the BA degree at ASU. The minor in art is appropriate for students who have a significant interest in art, but who do not wish to major in art. More information about the art minor:
