Quentin Kuyper

Director, Conservatory Program and Staff Member, Fine Arts Department Office

 

 

Quentin Kuyper is the Director of the Augusta State University Conservatory Program, a part of the ASU Continuing Education program administered through the Fine Arts Department. This program, with approximately 40 faculty members, provides music instruction to students who are not currently enrolled as ASU music majors or minors--typically middle school and high school students, and including a growing number of adults. This instruction includes private lessons, music classes, music ensembles, and summer music camps. More than 370 different students participated in Conservatory Program activities last year.


.Dr. Kuyper received the B.A. degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa, and the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. His previous experience includes teaching at the middle school, high school, and college levels in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri. He has been elected to membership in Alpha Zeta Mu, the academic honorary society at Central College, and to Pi Kappa Lambda, the national music honor society. He teaches and performs regularly on recorder and other historical instruments, and is a member of the trumpet section of the Savannah River Winds, a semi-professional wind ensemble.

Dr. Kuyper is also a staff member in the Fine Arts Office, and is available to help students and faculty on various matters.
