Nicholaus Meyers

Part time instructor

 

Nicholaus Meyers, a native of Georgia, received his Bachelors degree in Percussion Performance from Augusta State University and Masters degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Tennessee. While at Augusta State Mr. Meyers was the section leader of the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. He also conducted the school Wind Ensemble in concert and performed with various local professional organizations. His teachers were Michael Katterjohn (percussion), Lou Cefus (conducting) and Martin David Jones (piano and theory).


While at the University of Tennessee he performed with the Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble and was a member of the Oakridge Symphony. His teachers at the University of Tennessee were Kenneth Jacobs (composition), F. Michael Combs (percussion) and Keith Brown (drumset).
Mr. Meyers is currently instructor of Percussion and Humanities at Augusta State University and works with the Lakeside High School band program in Evans, Georgia. He also teaches composition and performs with the Augusta Symphony, Opera, Choral Society and area churches. Mr. Meyers has also studied composition with Roger Vogel at the University of Georgia.


He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Percussive Arts Society (PAS), Society of Composers, College Music Society, The Film Music Society and is listed in "Who's who in America". Mr. Meyers has and is continuing to write original compositions for various instruments and voices that have been performed throughout the Southeast.
