Patti Abasolo Myers teaches studio voice, voice class, and humanities. She is a graduate of Augusta College, where she received the Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance. Ms. Myers earned the Master of Music degree in vocal performance and music history at the University of North Texas, where she received several awards in performance and scholarship. She continued doctoral studies in voice and musicology at that institution, with a focus on the music of the Baroque and Classic eras. She has also pursued additional studies in Baroque music at the University of South Carolina, and studied German at the University of Graz (Austria). Ms. Myers has performed extensively in opera, as soloist in oratorio and other sacred works, and as a recitalist. She has sung for the Beaumont (Texas) Civic Opera and the Des Moines Metro Summer Festival of Opera. Her operatic performances have included the roles of Mimi in La Bohème, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Angelica in Suor Angelica, Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Elvira in L'Italiana in Algeri, and Arsena in The Gypsy Baron, and she has performed additional roles in musical and non-musical theater. |

She has appeared as soloist in many works with orchestra, including Mozart's Exsultate, jubilate, K. 165, in orchestral concerts in Graz, Austria, and has also presented solo and ensemble recitals in Texas, Georgia, and in several venues in Austria. She has studied and specialized in performing works by Mozart, the Lieder of Hugo Wolf, and music of the early to middle Baroque eras. In August of 1997, Ms. Myers was soprano soloist with the choirs-in-residence at Westminster Abbey in London. Ms. Myers's vocal teachers have included Pattye Johnstone and Edward Baird, and her coaches in opera, Lieder, and other art song have included Harold Heiberg, Horst Gunter, and Robert Evans. She has studied Italian, French, and German diction with Nico Castel, and she has participated in master classes with such artists as Eleanor Steber and John Wustman. Her teachers and coaches in the fields of operatic acting, direction, and production have included Vincent Liotta, Max Lehner, Thomas Holliday, and Dennis Wakeling. She studied vocal pedagogy with John Large. Ms. Myers is an active performer at Augusta State University, having sung several faculty recitals, and she has participated in performances by the ASU Choir, Chamber Singers, and Opera Workshop. She is also on the faculty of the Augusta State University Conservatory Program. Ms. Myers is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and of Pi Kappa Lambda national music honor society. |
