Clara Park
Pianist, Part-Time Faculty
Clara Park has received international acclaim as both soloist and chamber musician. With the release of her solo compact disc "Piano Music of Theodor Leschetizky", she has received critical praise for her artistry and commitment to undiscovered piano repertoire. In the American Record Guide, the reviewer described Park as a "lyrical player who combines delicacy with an ear for detail I can't imagine anyone playing these (pieces) better, or with greater elegance or dedication."
Dr. Park's performances have been throughout the United States and abroad, including
a solo concert tour in Beijing and Tianjin, China, recitals in Ontario, Canada,
and a recital at the Dame Myra Hess Recital Series in Chicago. As a frequent
chamber music collaborator, she has performed extensively with singers and instrumentalists.
Committed to performing new music, she gave the American premieres of chamber
works by twentieth-century composer Isang Yun at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully
Hall, and the world premiere of Michael Cunningham's Piano Quintet. She has
performed a series of German song cyles in concerts at Harvard University with
tenor Mark Evans. She has also performed with the Magellan String Quartet and
the Artaria Quartet of Boston, and was featured at the Pacific Music Festival
in Japan. Dr. Park was selected as a Laureate of the American Pianists Association,
and she has been a concerto soloist with the Augusta Symphony, the Greater Augusta
Youth Orchestra, the Brevard Music Festival Orchestra, and the Atlanta Pops
Orchestra.
Clara Park received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Yale University and
the Bachelor and Master degrees from Peabody Conservatory. She has been on the
faculty of Atlantic Union College in Lancaster, Massachusetts, the University
of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and Georgia Southern University. Presently, she is on
the faculty at Augusta State University where she teaches piano, theory, and
