Musical Studies Offered

ASU Conservatory Faculty

Questions and Answers

Do I have to register through the university to take music lessons? No. The conservatory has its own registration to handle all Conservatory classes.

Are the lessons taught on campus? Some faculty members teach all of their lessons in the ASU Fine Arts Center whereas others choose to teach conservatory students in their home studios. If location is a factor in your decision to choose a teacher, please let us know, so we can make recommendations based on your needs.

Can we just pay the teachers directly for the lessons? No. Students referred to our faculty through the conservatory office are taught through the program. Checks must be made payable to ASU (Augusta State University) and be accompanied by a completed conservatory registration form. You can call the Conservatory Office to have a registration form mailed to you.

How does the cost of lessons through the Conservatory compare to other programs in the area? Actually, the conservatory's fees are in keeping with other independent music teachers in the Augusta metropolitan area. We allow considerable flexibility in the length of each tuition agreement. In addition, the availability of payment plans, credit card transactions and scholarship assistance makes our program even more convenient for many parents and students. Most importantly, our affiliation with Augusta State University ensures the quality of our faculty.

Are there scholarships available? A limited number of partial scholarships are available to talented students with serious financial need. Call the office at (706) 731-7971 for complete details. Auditions are held each fall.

How do I register for lessons? Call the Conservatory Office to describe the kind of instruction you want. All the necessary materials will be mailed to you. Then you should 1) Call the recommended teacher and arrange a lesson time; 2) Return your registration form and tuition to the Conservatory Office; and 3) Go to the first lesson you have arranged.
