Swine Flu (H1N1) Information
Sept. 18 - ASU's Nursing Department will conduct a flu clinic at their annual health fair on Wednesday, Oct. 7. They expect to have flu vaccine available for both the seasonal flu and the Novel H1N1 (Swine Flu). Only a limited amount of the vaccine is available, so please reserve your spot now. Cost: Seasonal Flu Shot, $15; FluMist Nasal Spray, $20. Novel H1N1 (Swine) Flu Shot: free with valid ASU ID; $5, general public.
Remember that you should not take the vaccine if you have an egg allergy or if your health care provider advises you otherwise. FluMist should not be used for those under the age of 2, over the age of 49, have chronic diseases, or who are pregnant. FluMist does not protect against H1N1 flu. When you call to schedule your vaccine, please let the nursing department know which vaccine you are reserving.
Originally the CDC recommendation for the H1N1 vaccine was 2 H1N1 shots; however, the latest FDA research suggests 1 H1N1 shot appears to provide adequate coverage. At the time that we administer the flu vaccinations, we will follow the CDC recommendations for the number of shots required for the H1N1 vaccines. Call 706-737-1725 for information and to reserve your vaccine.
