With funding provided by Title VIII (The Act for Research and Training for Eastern Europe and Independent
States of Former Soviet Union), EES offers short-term grants to scholars working on policy
relevant projects on East Europe. While Southeast Europe remains a primary focus, projects on Central Europe and
the Baltic states are again eligible. Projects should focus on fields in the social sciences and humanities including, but not
limited to: Anthropology, History, Political Science, Slavic Languages and Literatures, and Sociology. All projects should
aim to highlight their potential policy relevance.
ELIGIBILITY: These Title VIII grants are available to American academic experts and practitioners, including advanced
graduate students, engaged in specialized research requiring access to Washington, DC and its research institutions.
Grants are for one month and do not include residence at the Wilson Center.
