Grants Promote Japanese Performing
Arts In America
Japan Foundation: Performing Arts Japan
The mission of the Japan Foundation is to establish international cultural exchange and mutual understanding between
Japan and other countries. The purpose of the Performing Arts Japan (PAJ) program is to promote Japanese performing
arts in the United States.
PAJ supports initiatives created by U.S. nonprofit organizations to provide geographically
diverse American audiences with greater exposure to Japanese performing arts, as well as encouraging collaborations
between Japanese and American artists.
The PAJ Touring Grant assists in the presentation of Japanese performing arts
in the U.S. and Canada, emphasizing locations outside major metropolitan areas. The PAJ Collaboration Grant allows
Japanese and American artists to create new works with the potential to develop into a touring project.
Applications
must be received by November 2, 2009. Visit the Japan Foundation website to download the PAJ funding guidelines.
