fundamental and abiding importance for educational improvement: (1) The Relation Between Education and Social
Opportunity; (2) Organizational Learning in Schools, School Systems, and Higher Education Systems; (3) Teaching,
Learning, and Instructional Resources; and (4) Purposes and Values of Education. The Foundation also welcomes proposals
that do not fit one of the four areas listed through the Field-Initiated Proposal program.

also have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field or appropriate experience in an educationrelated
profession.
FUNDING: Research grants can range from less than $5,000 to slightly more than $400,000.
