U.S. Geological Survey: National Earthquake Hazards Reduction
USGS Earthquake Hazards Program issues this annual Announcement for assistance to support research in earthquake
hazards, the physics of earthquakes, earthquake occurrence, and earthquake safety policy.
FUNDING: Approximately $7 million will be available for support of research grants and cooperative agreements in
FY2010. Based on awards in recent years, 70 to 100 new awards are made each fiscal year. It is uncommon for grants to
exceed $100,000; the majority of grants are between $15,000 and $75,000. This estimate does not preclude the submission
of larger proposals nor does it bind the USGS to a specified number of awards. All projects must propose start
dates between December 1, 2010 and September 1, 2011.
