Particular emphasis will be placed on broadening participation of members of groups historically underrepresented in science and engineering: (1) African Americans, (2) Alaska Natives, (3) American Indians, (4) Hispanic Americans, (5) Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders, and (6) persons with disabilities.

The URM program expects to make at least eight awards, pending availability of funds. The anticipated funding amount is $3 million for new standard or continuing awards in fiscal year 2010.
