Program Support Grants: Georgia Humanities Council (GHC)
Maximum Available: $3,000
Deadline: September 1, 2010
The Georgia Humanities Council Grant Program provides financial support for cultural and humanities-based educational
programs that strengthen local communities by providing opportunities for learning and discussion among all
participants. Grants are awarded to such nonprofit organizations as museums, libraries, historical societies, community
groups, educational institutions and government agencies. All projects funded by the GHC must have a humanities
focus. The humanities are those branches of knowledge, including philosophy, literature, history, language, folklife, philosophy,
comparative religion, ethics, art criticism and theory all concerned with human thought and culture; the liberal
arts. Projects must also involve a humanities scholar and be open to the public.
For 2010, the GHC grant program offers program support grants. These grants are most appropriate
for single or short-term public programs. Examples include speakers, traveling exhibits, book or film discussions,
or interpretive programs at historic sites.
