Grants Up To $200,000 Go For
International Research
Agency: Education Dept. (DoEd) (Office of Postsecondary Education, OPE);
Program: International Research & Studies (IRS) (CFDA Number: 84.017A);
Eligibility: Public and private agencies, organizations, institutions, and individuals;
Funding: More than $2.5 million for 17 awards ranging from $50,000 to $200.000 each;
Deadlines: April 23.
Purpose: IRS provides grants to conduct research and studies to improve and strengthen instruction in modern foreign
languages, area studies, and other international fields.
The OPE program has the following two competitive priorities that provide an additional five points in the scoring process: -
Instructional Materials Applications: The development of specialized instructional or assessment materials
focused on any of the 78 languages on DoEd's list of Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTLs).
- Research, Surveys, and Studies Applications: Research, surveys, assessments, or studies
