Funds Available To Reanalyze Research To Enhance Understanding

Agency: Justice Dept. (Nat'l Institute of Justice, NIJ);

Program: Data Resources Program 2010: Funding for the Analysis of Existing Data

Eligibility: State and local governments, tribes, nonprofits and institutions of higher education;

Funding: $35,000 for six awards;

Deadline: April 16.

Purpose: NIJ is requesting proposals to reproduce, replicate or extend previous findings and conduct original research extending data from the Nat'l Archive of Criminal Justice Data.

NIJ is interested in secondary analysis that enhances understanding of crime and informs criminal justice policy and practice in the United States. Research proposals should seek either to replicate original findings or, preferably, extend research by testing new hypotheses with existing data.

Insider's Tip: NIJ will give preference to research that asks compelling crime and justice questions rather than research that merely furthers statistical methods or technical refinement of data sets.
