Grants In Aid Program
The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues

Grants-in-Aid (GIA) wishes to support scientific research in social problem areas related to the basic interests and goals of SPSSI and particularly those that are not likely to receive support from traditional sources. The Committee especially encourages proposals involving (a) unique and timely research opportunities, (b) underrepresented institutions, graduate students, and junior scholars, (c) volunteer research teams, and (d) actual, not pilot, projects. Funds are not normally provided for travel to conventions, travel or living expenses while conducting research, stipends of principal investigators, costs associated with manuscript preparation, or the indirect costs of institutions. Awards are up to $1,000 for graduate research and up to $2,000 for postdoctoral research (exceptions granted in some cases). Graduate research requires match. Applicants must be SPSSI members.

Grants-in-Aid are awarded twice each year. The annual deadline for the Spring round is May 15th. Winners will be announced by July 20th. The annual deadline for the Fall round is October 20th. Winners will be announced by December 10th.
