Augusta State University Archaeology Project
Artifact/ Feature Indentification Page
The Augusta Arsenal, a federal facility, was in service from 1828 to 1955. The property is now the campus of Augusta State University, an unit of the University System of Georgia.
There are no recent artifacts from the Augusta Arsenal, Georgia (9-Ri-1045) for which we are soliciting identification information. The concealment shoes formerly on this page can be seen at: Concealment Shoes.
Features
The feature seen below (left) has been interpreted as a rainwater overflow well. It is located near the front corner of the building and off to one side. The photo at right shows the relationship of the building to the feature and approximate distance. As can be seen in the photograph, the feature aligns nicely with the modern drains from the roof.
