Walk-in Lab - A computer area available for a student to walk-in and use the resources during the hours specified, unless otherwise booked. Teaching Lab - A classroom that is also equipped with student computers. These resources are reserved by faculty for the use of teaching. Access may be available when the lab is not booked for a class and it is during normal class hours. Departmental Computer Lab - A computer lab with specialized resources usually reserved by faculty for the use of teaching specific major courses of study. Access is usually available only when attending one of these classes or associated with a major program of study. Some departmental labs are open for general student use.
Allgood Hall E152 (24 hour lab ) - New computers are now installed in Allgood Hall E152. These new computers do NOT have a floppy drive. Floppy drives are considered old technology and are being replaced by USB jump drives. During this transition period, there is a computer located in the front of the room (by the white board) that has a floppy available for you to use. If you still use a floppy to save information, you may want to consider purchasing a new USB jump drive (also referred to as flash drives). We will soon replace the computers in the lab located on the 3 rd floor lobby of the library (LIB3LOB) and these too will NOT have floppy drives. The computers located on the first floor lobby of the library are available if you need a floppy. Click here for reminders on how to save files while working in a computer lab.
The University provides computer resources for students with Disabilities. All our regular computer labs are equipped with a special workstation and the computers have JAWS and Zoomtext installed. Headphones are also available for checkout. In addition, the campus maintains a scanner with the Kurzweil software located in the Writing Center and a Braille printer located in Media Services. For additional information visit the Disability Services site.
Lab availability during Semester and other Academic Breaks: The following schedule is usually in effect. During these breaks, computer labs run UNATTENDED. Paper for the printers will NOT be restocked during these times. Contact Public Safety at 706-737-1401 to obtain admission into the University Hall lab with your current validated ASU ID card.
Allgood Hall E152 and University Hall 131 are both 24 hour access labs. If the building or lab door is locked, call Public Safety at 706-737-1401 to obtain admission into the lab with your current validated ASU ID card.
