Setting up and using PuTTY

I. Setup PuTTY

  1. From your Desktop: Click PC Management Tools | Campus Software | All Departments | SSH Client (or go to My Computer and in the Address window type in \\fsfs2\CampusSW and select All Departments | SSH Client)
  2. Drag the file: putty.exe to your Desktop
  3. Double click the putty.exe icon on your desktop
  4. The window: Open File - Security Warning may display, if so, click RUN
  5. The PuTTY Configuration window will display.
  6. In host name: Enter the server name you have been given by ITS
  7. In Protocol: Select SSH
  8. In Saved Sessions: Type in the session name you have been given by ITS
  9. Click SAVE
  10. Click OPEN
  11. The first time you access the server with PuTTY, the PuTTY Security Alert window will display, click YES to continue.

II. To use PuTTY after initial setup

  1. Double click the PuTTY.exe icon on your desktop. The window: Open File - Security Warning may display, if so, click RUN
  2. Under Saved Sessions, select the session name you used for your initial setup
  3. Click LOAD
  4. Click OPEN
