Your JagNET Account is used for
- JagNET (the Augusta State University Network):
Provides
access to PeachNet, the University System of Georgia's state-wide
network, and the Internet and is accessible from your office computers,
computer labs, and classroom computers.
- Wireless Access @
ASU (WAASU): When connecting to the ASU Wireless network, you
are required to authenticate using your JagNET account.
You are provided with:
- 2GB of network server space
Activate your
account: To activate your account, logon to a campus computer
and change your password when prompted.
Change your password: You
will be required to change your password the first time you use a computer
on campus. If at any time you need to change your password, you may
do so from any campus lab computer by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL and selecting
the Change Password option. If you have forgotten your password, contact
the Information
Technology Services HelpDesk for assistance.
When is the account
ready (Active Account): Once
ITS is notified of your employment, we will create your account and
notify you when it is ready.
How much storage space do I get?
2GB of storage space is allocated to each employee to save documents
and backup data.
How do I get to and save my files?
From ON campus to view your entire folder: Login to a campus computer.
From the desktop, double click My Computer and select the Z drive. All
your folders will be displayed and you can drag and drop or copy and paste
into the appropriate folder.
Unauthorized use: It
is the employees responsibility to guard their account from unauthorized
use.
Logoff and Logon It
is your responsibility to log off a computer when you have finished using
it. This will ensure that no one else is able to access and use your account.
It is also your responsibility NEVER to use a computer that has NOT been
logged off. If the computer you want to use is logged on, first log it
off, then log on with your account.
Automatic Logoff: Some of the campus lab
computers will have an automatic logoff feature after 20 minutes. Therefore,
if you have logged in to a campus lab computer and you do nothing for
20 minutes the computer will be logged off. So be sure to backup your
files as you work. This is not a total security answer, but it is a small
help.
Backups: You
should set up automated scheduled backups of your data. Information
Technology Services will assist you with this process. Contact the HelpDesk - 706-737-1482.
Policies & Procedures: You should review the policies and procedures
governing the use of technology resources for Augusta State University.
These documents are accessible on the web at http://www.aug.edu/its/policies.html
If you are
both a student and an employee: We recommend that you do NOT
use your student JagNET account from your office computer. Student JagNET
accounts have different attributes and you may lose saved documents
if you are not careful. Additionally, we do NOT recommend that you use
your departmental JagNET account when using a student lab computer.
