IIII. Security & Other Policies

Unauthorized use It is the employees responsibility to guard their account from unauthorized use. .

Logoff and Logon It is your responsibility to log off a computer when you have finished using it. This will ensure that no one else is able to access and use your account. It is also your responsibility NEVER to use a computer that has NOT been logged off. If the computer you want to use is logged on, first log it off, then log on with your account.

Automatic Logoff Some of the campus lab computers will have an automatic logoff feature after 20 minutes. Therefore, if you have logged in to a campus lab computer and you do nothing for 20 minutes the computer will be logged off. So be sure to backup your files as you work. This is not a total security answer, but it is a small help.

Backups: You should set up automated scheduled backups of your data. Information Technology Services will assist you with this process. Contact the HelpDesk - 706-737-1482.

Policies & Procedures You should review the policies and procedures governing the use of technology resources for Augusta State University. These documents are accessible on the WEB at htt://www.aug.edu/its

If you are both student and employee: We recommend that you do NOT use your student JagNET account from your office computer. Student JagNET accounts have different attributes and you may lose saved documents if you are not careful. Additionally, we do NOT recommend that you use your departmental JagNET account when using a student lab computer.
