An account on ASU supported computing facilities has been established for your use. Use of the account assigned to me certifies that I have read and will abide by these guidelines, the Computer and Network Usage Policy , and all other Augusta State University policies regarding access and rights to information.
- This account will be used in support of Augusta State University related
activities: electronic mail, electronic publishing, information and
database storage and retrieval, bulletin board and news system access,
class preparation, class assignments, homework, and the like, all
as appropriate to my status as a current employee and/or student
of Augusta State University.
- This account will not be used for personal monetary
gain (other than any compensation paid by Augusta State University);
nor for the benefit of any person or organization not related to
Augusta State; nor to interfere with other people's use of any computer
system or network; nor to look at or change anyone else's information
without their explicit permission; nor to deliberately overuse or
waste computing resources.
- I understand that this account is an
authorization to use facilities owned and operated by the State of
Georgia, and therefore that usage of this account is subject to the
rules, regulations, and policies of Augusta State University and
the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, and all
applicable State and Federal laws.
- I will not permit any other
person to use this account for any purpose whatsoever. I will use
all necessary precautions to safeguard the confidentiality of the
associated password. I will be accountable for any and all improper
use of this account.
- I will never use a computing account belonging
to someone else.
- I will obey copyright laws in all instances.
I will not illegally use, inspect, copy, or store any copyrighted
computer software programs or other material.
- I will not cause
damage to computer systems or computer networks or intentionally
damage equipment, software, or data belonging to Augusta State University
or other users.
- I will follow prescribed guidelines when using
diskettes and other computer media to avoid, to the best of my ability,
introducing viruses into computer systems.
- I acknowledge that
when I cease being a member of the campus community (graduate, stop
attending, or terminate employment) or I am assigned a new position
and/or responsibilities within the College, my authorization to use
this account will be reviewed. I will not use facilities, accounts,
access codes, privileges, or information for which I am not authorized
in my new circumstances.
- I understand that failure to abide by
all of the above may result in cancellation of my account or other
disciplinary action and may subject me to civil or criminal liability.
