Are you looking for a computer, printer, or just want some information on new computer products? This information is designed to assist with your departmental planning and purchasing. Faculty/Staff Desktop Computer

 

The basic PC for faculty and staff will vary given what is currently on the market. Price will vary depending on when purchased and how many the campus is purchasing. Hewlett Packard (HP) has a variety of printing products depending on your needs. Feel free to browse the HP web site to see what is available and price ranges - (www.hp.com).

Standard Printers

  • Office inkjet printer: HP Deskjet 6940 costs around $100.00
  • Small Office Network laser printer:HP LaserJet P3005N or HP LaserJet P2015dn price range $500 - $600.

Software

 

Adobe products may be purchased from MSD (Managed Software Distribution at University of Georgia.) (PeopleSoft Vendor #8179) at competitive prices. Other vendors are available from a variety of sources. Contact Cathy Barner, 737-1484 for more information - we will assist with your shopping needs.

1. UPS - Battery Backup - Uninterruptible Power Supply for a standard office windows computer.Vendor:  Office Depot

2. USB 2.0 Flash Drives - Available in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors. 2GB is a current standard, but other sizes are available. Prices range from $10 on up. These are usually available at Office Supply stores. If you are purchasing for an Apple, be sure the item is available for them.

3. USB Hubs - A device that allows many USB devices to be connected to a single USB port on the host computer or another hub. These are usually available at Office Supply stores. If you are purchasing for an Apple, be sure the item is available for them.

4. External Hard Drives - An external hard disk drive is a type of hard disk drive which is externally connected to a computer, and may be portable. External hard disk drives are often connected to the computer using a USB cable. These can be used for backups or simply as another working drive. They come in a variety fo sizes - 300GB is usually the low end with 500GB being about average. These are usually available at Office Supply stores. If you are purchasing for an Apple, be sure the item is available for them.
