Technology Services' Assistant Director for Instructional Services
At the invitation of a faculty member or departmental representative, Information
Technology Services personnel will come into the classroom as guest trainers for general computer orientations and specific software orientations. Contact Information
Technology Services, 706-737-1482, or complete an online request for "Teach a class".
General Computer Orientations can include (tailored to individual instructor's needs and amount of class time available):
- Information about resources available to students
- Introduction to the web
- Introduction to e-mail
- Introduction to word processing
- Introduction to spreadsheets
- Introduction to Pipeline
- introduction to GeorgiaVIEW Vista
Specific software orientations include, but are not limited to

- Web page development
- PowerPoint
Many opportunities exist for development of faculty skills with technology, including integration of technology into the curriculum. Offices providing local support include Information
Technology Services Instructional Services (see section below) and Support Services, Media Services, and Reese Library.
A statewide initiative called Connecting Teachers and Technology sponsors a Faculty Development Institute each year. This program is administered by previous attendees, known as the FDI Cohort Committee. The FDI classes are presented by Information
Technology Services' Assistant Director for Instructional Services.
Instructional Services assists ASU faculty with implementing instructional technology. Faculty should contact Instructional Services (706- 667-4808) for consultation and assistance with technology efforts.
Among the services offered are:
- Faculty voice in future technology decisions
- Assistance with software whose primary purpose is academic, such as GeorgiaVIEW Vista , a Web-based course management system, ArtSTOR, a web-based digital image repository service, Respondus, a test creation software, StudyMate, a learning "games" software or other similar programs.
- Assistance with incorporating technology into classes or increasing your skills with technology (includes online tutorials on a variety of topics and assistance with evaluating textbook-related electronic materials)
- The Assistant Director for Instructional Services is a member of the Regents Advisory Committe for Distance Education (RACDE).
- Within the University System of Georgia, the Assistant Direcgtor for Instructional Services also acts as a liaison for USG Share, a learning objects repository, for GeorgiaONmyLINE, a web site listing distance education programs and courses, and other USG projects with an academic focus.

GeorgiaVIEW Vista is a Web-based course management system used by the faculty to provide course-related information and instructional materials. A student must be registered for a class to have an account within that class. If you are a faculty member and are interested in using this program with your classes, please contact Information
Technology Services' Assistant Director for Instructional Services who will assist with accounts and training.
